Celebrating our wholesale stars

The wholesale community gathered at the Houses of Parliament on a sunny Tuesday 7th May, for a special celebration honouring its learning and development champions. With a picturesque view of the Thames, Big Ben, and London’s iconic landmarks, attendees cheered on 27 award winning recipients for their dedication to expanding their skills through apprenticeships or further studies at work.

This years Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD) Wholesale stars, along with managers, industry leaders, and supplier partners, gathered to hear inspiring words from Mark Spencer MP, Minister of State for Food, Farming, and Fisheries, and Labour MP Bill Esterson. Where both MPs highlighted the crucial role of skills training in the wholesale sector and its significant contribution to the nation.

Before the ceremony kicked off, the winners enjoyed a tour of the historic Houses of Parliament and received warm welcomes from MPs representing their constituencies.

Wholesale Stars from across the Group

We are delighted to celebrate the accomplishments of five Wholesale Stars from across the Group.

Viki Wilkinson – Category Buyer, The Country Range Group

Viki’s career evolution from assistant buyer to category buyer reflects her deep expertise and commitment to the wholesale sector. Her completion of advanced courses signifies her ongoing dedication to learning and supporting internal teams and suppliers with excellence.

Bella McGregor – Marketing Assistant, The Country Range Group

Bella’s career progression from temporary contract in our administration team to marketing assistant at The Country Range Group showcases her proactive approach to skill development. Her commitment to ongoing learning through practical training and formal courses demonstrates her determination to excel in marketing.

Speaking of her award Bella McGregor said, “Winning a Wholesale Star award from the FWD is an incredible honour, and I couldn’t be prouder of this achievement. The trip down to Westminster was truly memorable, I am grateful for the support of my colleagues, whose mentorship has been instrumental in honing my skills and advancing my role within the Group.”

Charlotte Austin – Warehouse Supervisor, A.F. Blakemore & Son Ltd

Charlotte’s role as a warehouse supervisor extends beyond traditional duties, with a focus on transport-related operations and auditing. Her efforts to enhance operational efficiency through training and skill development highlight her dedication to continuous improvement within her area of responsibility.

Lisa Barber – Proposition Manager, A.F. Blakemore & Son

With extensive experience in foodservice, Lisa is celebrated for her outstanding customer service and dedication to professional development. Her pursuit of a post-graduate qualification showcases her continuous commitment to personal growth and industry excellence, making her a positive and influential figure in her field.

Josie Swift – Head of Purchasing, Harlech Foodservice

Josie is a dynamic head of purchasing, recognised for her rapid career progression and exceptional rapport with suppliers. Josie’s leadership and commitment to development highlight her influential role within the industry.
