The Country Range Group has announced that throughout 2022 its member wholesalers and central office team helped raise a remarkable £186,190 for various national and local charities as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations. The foodservice buying group’s initial target was £100,000, with money raised to be split between Hospitality Action and selected charities in the local areas of the foodservice buying group’s central office and each individual member wholesaler around the UK and Ireland.
How The Group Fundraised £186,190!
However, that target was well and truly exceeded through a wide array of charitable endeavours including fundraising activities at the various CRG events such as their annual ‘An Evening With’ celebration and Gala Evening. Some of the challenges undertaken by employees of the Group and its members were pub walks, quiz nights, fancy dress days, bake-offs, golf days, parachute jumps, gin nights as well as a sponsored leg wax and tattoo auction.
Martin Ward, Chief Executive of the buying group, said: “We’re delighted to have not only hit our £100,000 target but to have absolutely smashed it by raising a staggering £186,190 for a host of amazing charities. A huge thank you to all the central office team and member employees for getting on board and embarking on some weird and wonderful challenges. The activities certainly brought the Group closer together and the funds raised will make a huge difference to Hospitality Action and our chosen local charities going forward.”
Who are Hospitality Action
Established in 1837 Hospitality Action has been providing vital assistance to all who work, or have worked within hospitality in the UK. Whether that be hotels, restaurants, pubs, bars or cafés, schools, hospitals or event venues, Hospitality Action give the help, advice and support people in hospitality need whenever times get tough.
Out of the total amount raised, £50,000 has been donated to Hospitality Action, which offers a range of help and support to those working in the industry. The rest of the money raised is to be split between local charities such as regional food banks, mental health charities, children’s charities, hospices and many more, which will be announced in the coming weeks and months.
Mark Lewis, Chief Executive at Hospitality Action, commented:
“We’re immensely grateful for the donation from the Country Range Group and its members and it will go a huge way towards helping people working in the hospitality industry get back on their feet again. With UK consumers facing a cost-of-living crisis and our industry facing unprecedented challenges, the donation and others alike couldn’t arrive at a better time.”
Continued Support For Local Communities
As part of our continuous drive to support the local communities of our members the Group will be sharing updates, highlighting the impact that the donations have had across the wholesale and catering industries plus local communities across the UK and Ireland.
