The Clink Charity has been chosen to provide the catering services for the Country Range Group’s upcoming annual ‘An Evening With’ event, which will take place at the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral in the City of London on Thursday the 1st December.
The charity was founded in 2010 and provides catering training to offenders so they can find work on their release. As well as operating three restaurants at HMP Brixton in London, HMP High Down in Surrey and HMP Styal in Cheshire, the charity’s outside events operation – Clink Events – also provides bespoke catering beyond the walls of the prison so serving prisoners can earn experience in event catering.
The event will feature a drinks reception and 3-course dinner and also incorporate the Country Range Group’s annual supplier and member awards. The food will be prepared at Clink’s central production training kitchen at HMP Downview by prisoners who are training towards gaining the Level 1 and Level 2 NVQ in Professional Cookery.
Jonny Whitfield, Managing Director of The Clink Events, said:
“We’re honoured to be chosen to provide the catering for the Country Range Group’s prestigious ‘An Evening With’ event at such a stunning and historic venue as St Paul’s Cathedral. Our bespoke outside catering service is vital for the prisoners as it gives them real life experience in event catering while they study for their NVQs, equipping them with self-confidence and the skills and ability to serve guests efficiently and professionally. We can’t wait to get to work on this event and are confident the guests will be blown away by the standard of cooking served.”
The Country Range Group’s Head of Marketing Emma Holden said:
“The food and drink are such an important part of our ‘An Evening With’ event and one area we knew we needed to get spot on for all our guests attending. For that reason, we’re thrilled to have secured the Clink services and are delighted to be supporting the charity which is doing so much great work helping prisoners get back on their feet. It was a fantastic experience to visit the production training kitchen at HMP Downview for the menu tasting and meet some of the prisoners who were creating dishes for us on the day. I for one am so excited to taste the dishes on the 1st December.”
